2025 Fantasy Outlook
Cole got out of the gate extremely fast during his rookie season of 2023 and he rarely slowed down through the entire year on his way to capturing ROY honors. With four top-3s and over $5 million in earnings, the bar was set awfully high entering his second season, and while he failed to match his rookie numbers, he still fared pretty well. Cole couldn't find those high-end finishes in 2024, but he did manage five top-10s on his way to over $3 million in earnings. There's little doubt that Cole is going to be a mainstay on the PGA Tour for a while, but the question is -- will he ascend to the next level? It's hard to say this early, but looking solely at his salary cap prospects, he looks like a solid play this season. Read Past Outlooks
Alternate for U.S. Open
June 3, 2025
Cole will be the second alternate from U.S. Open Final Qualifying in Columbus after falling in a 5-for-1 playoff to Cameron Young on Monday.
ANALYSIS
The Columbus final qualifying site featured a number of heavy hitters who had played at the Memorial the day prior. Cole made 11 birdies over the 36 holes on Monday, but also added in six bogeys. It put him in a playoff with Young, Chase Johnson, Max Homa and Rickie Fowler with only one spot up for grabs in the U.S. Open. It was Young who ended the drama quickly with a birdie on the first playoff hole to lock up the final spot from Columbus, but there's a chance Cole still could find his way to Oakmont as an alternate. Cole's game has fallen off a bit this season, but he still has made the cut in nine of his last ten starts. He also has a pair of top-five finishes in 2025 heading into the RBC Canadian Open this week. At 71st in the OWGR, if Cole were to be able to crack the top-60 after Canada, he would also get a spot at Oakmont that way.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Cole's rookie season didn't start off strongly, with missed cuts in his first four outings and no top-25 finishes in his initial 10 starts. However, a runner-up finish at the Honda Classic provided a much-needed boost. Ultimately, he concluded the season just shy of the top-30. Cole achieved this with several high-end finishes, but it was primarily his consistent performance that enabled him to earn over $5 million. Notably, he had a streak of making 14 consecutive cuts from June through October, positioning him well for a promising sophomore year. The downside, however, is that his impressive debut has set expectations too high for consideration in salary cap leagues this season.
Cole paced the Korn Ferry Tour in putts per round while ranking second in putting average and third in Birdie or Better conversion percentage throughout the 2022 season, but his concerning ball-striking metrics indicate a potentially difficult transition to the PGA Tour level. Nonetheless, he tied for the third at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship to earn his card for the 2022-23 campaign. He's made three previous appearances on the PGA Tour, including a top-25 finish at the 2021 Corales Championship.
