Mack had a chance to showcase her talent to begin the 2024 campaign, as Brittney Griner missed the first 10 games of the year due to a toe injury. Mack performed well as a fill-in starter, averaging 4.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.1 blocks in 22.5 minutes per game. She started in just one of her last 30 regular-season appearances and was inconsistent down the stretch, as she averaged 3.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 15.5 minutes per game over the course of the season. The 27-year-old could claim a starting job for the new-look Mercury in 2025 now that Griner is in Atlanta. Mack (back), who has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Valkyries, has resumed basketball activities, Desert Wave Media reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Mack will miss at least one more game due to her back injury, it was encouraging to see her resume basketball activities during Thursday's shootaround. It's unclear whether she'll be available for Saturday's game against the Storm, but even if she misses that matchup, it seems possible that she'll be in the mix to return sometime next week.
