Tanner Gray Racing Stats & News

Tanner Gray

TRICON Garage
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gray returns to the No. 15 Toyota team that he raced with last season in the truck series. The team returns intact from last year with Jeff Hensley still calling the shots at crew chief. Gray attained just five Top-10 finishes but would finish a career-best 13th in the final driver standings. It was his best campaign of his five-season truck series career. Gray and TRICON will aim for loftier goals in 2025. Gray would like to cash in on his first-career win and while that may still be out of reach, more Top 10's and better week-to-week consistency is certainly possible. The 25-year-old driver has visited victory lane in his ARCA Menards Series career and there's no reason he can't equal that feat in the trucks. Read Past Outlooks
Tops Michigan Truck Practice
Craftsman Truck Series
June 6, 2025
Gray was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the DQS Solutions & Staffing 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 185.922 mph.
ANALYSIS
Gray was one of only two drivers to break the 185 mph mark in this lone practice ahead of pole qualifying at Michigan. He would beat out Luke Fenhaus by a comfortable margin to put his No. 15 Toyota truck atop the scoring pylon at the two-mile oval. Gray has been racing well of late and looks like a Top-5 threat for Saturday's DQS Solutions & Staffing 200.

Gray's fourth full season in the trucks was a reasonably good campaign. He'd nab three Top-5 and six Top-10 finishes, as well as grab his first-career pole position. Still, Gray would like to achieve more growth and higher levels of performance with now near-100 starts in this division of NASCAR under his belt. The driver of the No. 15 Toyota truck returns to pretty much the same team and sponsor lineup, but he gets a new crew chief for 2024. Gray will be paired with Jerame Donley and the two will look to find more Top 10's and lower that average finish of 16.7 from last season. This is a growing, multi-truck race team and Gray clearly has talent. He could easily climb these driver rankings over the course of the upcoming season.
The 23-year-old talent returns to TRICON Garage this season to continue building on the good work they've accomplished so far. Last season's toil netted two Top-5 and six Top-10 finishes and a respectable 15th-place finish in the final driver points. Gray started the season well, but sort of fell into a slump in the latter third of the campaign and slipped from 11th to 15th in the standings. However, he did end the season well with a Top-10 finish at Phoenix. Gray will once again be paired with crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. and the two will look to continue pursing elusive victories and more Top 10's.
Gray returns to DGR for his third-full season in the Camping World Truck Series. 2021 was a bit of a letdown considering how well Gray performed in 2020. The young driver scratched for just two Top 10's last season compared to eight in the prior campaign. Gray will be paired with veteran crew chief Jerry Baxter in the upcoming season to look for improvement. This could be a very good combination and could lead to great things. Gray has shown the ability to win races in the lower divisions of NASCAR, so there's definite talent available. If Gray and Baxter can develop some chemistry early on in the season, he could climb the driver rankings considerably.
His rookie season in 2020 was no disappointment at all. Gray scrambled to four Top-5 and eight Top-10 finishes during last season. It all added up to a respectable 14th-place effort in the championship points. It might have been better had the young driver been able to attain any consistency. However, that was his one major weakness. DGR welcomes Gray back for another season in 2021. He'll once again be partnered with crew chief Shane Wilson and the two will look to discover that consistency that was missing from last season. It seems that David Gilliland Racing has a lot of expectations for Gray, and they're really looking to grow him as well as this race team in the upcoming season.
Tyler Ankrum achieved a great deal in this truck last season. He piloted the team's full-time entry to one win and eight Top-10 finishes in a very successful rookie campaign. Ankrum is now gone, and departed for GMS Racing in 2020. DGR Crosley has put youngster Gray in this team for the upcoming season. He will be paired with veteran crew chief, Shane Wilson, for a full season run in the truck series. Gray made just three starts for DGR Crosley in 2019 and earned three Top-20 finishes in those efforts. He was far more impressive in his K&N Pro Series East and West starts last season, earning one victory and 12 Top-10 finishes in 15 combined starts. Gray is on the fast track development path, but he still lacks a lot of seat time in trucks.
