Wins Spanish Grand Prix
Formula One
June 1, 2025
Piastri has further strengthened his championship lead by clinching a commanding victory in the Spanish Grand Prix, the Australian leading team mate Lando Norris in a McLaren 1-2 amid a dramatic end to the race that saw Max Verstappen and George Russell collide, Formula1.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Piastri would get away clean at the lights out as Verstappen and Norris squabbled over P2. That would allow the young McLaren driver to scoot away and build a decent margin back to the other drivers. There was plenty of action back in the pack throughout this GP but Piastri would stay out in front of it with excellent pace and pit strategy to keep him clear of the fray playing out behind him. The young driver would take the checkered flag nearly 2.5-seconds ahead of Norris for his fifth victory of the season.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season.
