Simpson logged his second top-10 finish of the season and the best finish of his IndyCar career. He was stuck in the midfield for most of the day, but he hit on some good luck when he was pitted immediately before a full-course yellow caused by Callum Ilott. The rest of the field pitted as a result, promoting Simpson to second place while handing him track position to convert his excellent result.
