Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Marte missed nearly two months last season due to a bruised knee and was modestly productive when available with seven home runs, 16 stolen bases and a .715 OPS in 94 games. The injuries are piling up as he enters his age-36 campaign, and the outfielder hasn't played in more than 120 contests in a full-length season since 2019. Marte continues to be a threat on the basepaths, but his power has dwindled with a .098 ISO across the past two years being nearly 50 points below his career average. He's entering the final season of his four-year, $78 million contract, and his playing time with the Mets could evaporate if he struggles early in 2025. Marte still had a .267 average in 2024 and offers some upside on the bases for fantasy managers in deeper leagues, but health and availability are major question marks as he moves closer to his late-30s. Hits fourth homer
Marte went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored during Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Marte picked up his first multi-hit game since May, reaching in four of five plate appearances Thursday. That included his fourth home run of the season and first in June. The 36-year-old, who entered the game with just four hits in his last 17 at-bats, will hope this game can get him going as his current batting average of .240 in 104 at-bats is on track for the lowest of his career.

Marte was limited to only 86 games as he missed time due to migraines, then had his season end in early August due to a right groin issue. It's unclear if Marte's injury is related to the double-groin surgery he underwent in November 2022, but he reportedly does not need more offseason surgery and will be healthy in the spring. After posting a wRC+ between 108 and 134 the previous five seasons, Marte's 76 mark was a career low. Marte's batted ball skills were as good, or better than the previous two seasons where he posted a 132 and 134 wRC+. Marte's average exit velocity was its highest since 2019, and his hard-hit rate was a career best. Barrel percentage was down a bit, piggybacking hitting fewer fly balls. Marte was 24-for-28 in stolen base attempts. All signs point to a rebound but expecting a full bounce back from an injury-prone 35-year-old is a slippery slope. There are ample encouraging signs to take a chance, just don't bank on a full return, and have a backup plan at the ready.
